Working with Community Foundations

As a college freshman, I worked as the communications intern at The Pittsburgh Foundation in downtown Pittsburgh. The Foundation is the 14th largest community foundation in the United States with more than $1.2 billion in assets.

In my role as the communications intern, I wrote and scheduled social media posts for the Foundation's large scholarship program as well as its Critical Needs Alert campaign. Additionally, I wrote web profiles for established funds and helped establish a social media presence for The Pittsburgh Foundation's affiliate, The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County.

While at the Foundation, I also worked on an article about one of the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County's scholarship funds, which was published in GOAL Magazine (pg 42-43).

The summer after freshman year, I moved back home where I started a new yet familiar position as the communications intern at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County (CFWC).

Social media was my primary responsibility in this role as I continued to grow CFWC's social media presence. I created a summer social media plan which showcased the work of the Youth Philanthropy Program, non-profit partners and more. I also assisted in planning and promoting events through social media.

In addition to social media, I wrote several press releases for CFWC and wrote an article about one of the foundation's unique scholarship recipients, which was published in the Foundation's Fall Forum.
