Olympic Medalist recalls 1972 Munich Games
It was the morning of the javelin competition at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany. Bill Schmidt, now 68, realized that his transportation wasn’t going to arrive.
So he ran. Schmidt ran four miles to the Olympic stadium only to be told that he was too late for the javelin
competition, but he didn’t let that stop him...

Lending a Helping Hand
Individuals from the Uniontown ATF excitedly searched the park for their decorated rocks and were happy to announce that they couldn’t find any of them. As a part of the Kindness Project, individuals who volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul’s painted rocks and wrote a kind message or quote on them before hiding them in a park to be discovered by someone who may need those kind words. This is only one of the many projects/activities the individuals participate in as volunteers at St. Vincent dePaul’s.

Fayette Resources supports individuals as they live "everyday lives"
In 2015, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule. This rule mandated inclusive settings and person-centered practices for individuals with disabilities nationwide. The CMS is expecting the HCBS Final Rule to help provide people receiving supports through Medicaid’s HCBS programs with “full access to the benefits of community living.”
In Pennsylvania, the final rule translated into Everyday Lives. At the center of it is the simple idea that, “People with disabilities have a right to an everyday life; a life that is no different than that of all other citizens.”

Pisula battles back from knee injury
With every minute that ticked off the clock, another fingernail was damaged.
Leslie Pisula, 57, fidgeted in her seat in the stands, biting her nails as she watched her freshman son, Tommy Pisula, get ready for kickoff.
“I was scared to death,” said Leslie remembering Tommy’s first high school football game. “Tommy was a lot smaller than some of those boys. I couldn’t stop worrying that he would get hurt.”
And after two healthy seasons of high school football, Leslie’s fear became a reality.
